N.C. History Day is an affiliate of National History Day (NHD). NHD contests are divided into three contest tiers: regional, state, and national.  All students must participate and qualify at their assigned regional contest in order to move up to the state contest.  You can register here for the Central Piedmont Regional Contest at Alamance Community College.  Not sure what region your county is in?  Click here to find your county's assigned region, and the contact info for your regional coordinator.

Registration for the 2019 N.C. History Day State Contest opens on  January 1, 2019 and closes on March 8, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. Late registrations will be accepted with a $5.00 surcharge until March 11, 2019. No registration entries will be allowed after March 11, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.

Welcome Students! We are happy that you have decided to participate in N.C. History Day this year. Before you get started there are several things we'd like you to keep in mind:

  1. Registration Deadline is March 13, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. Late registrations be accepted with a $5.00 surcharge until March 16, 2020. No registration entries will be allowed after March 16, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.
  2. Your teacher must register before you can register.
  3. If you are registering as a group, one student in the group must register first with the project. Afterwards, other group members can register and connect themselves to the same project using the team key that is provided to the first student at the very end of the registration process. If any of your group members accidently register without linking to the group project with the team key, please contact your teacher or Sherri Singer at sherri.singer@alamancecc.edu or 336-506-4396 so that they can connect it for you in the system.
  4. Be sure to look over all provided contest materials (NHD Rule Book, Contest Packets from the Regional Coordinator, and the information from your teacher) to make sure you complete your project correctly and bring everything required to the contest.
  5. If you are in the Website Category, please make sure you save and publish your NHD website by the March 13th.  Once registration closes, your website will be locked from editing until after the contest.
  6. If you are in the Paper Category, please make sure you upload a PDF of your paper to your registration portal before registration closes.  You are also required to mail 3 hard copies of your paper to the address listed below so that they arrive by the registration deadline. 
  7. Each student participating in the regional contest must pay a  $8.00 registration fee.  This is per student not per project.  Payments are due by March 13, 2020.  If paying by check, please make them payable to Alamance Community College.

Welcome Teachers! Thank you for all you do in supporting your students with their History Day projects!  We are so happy that you have decided to participate in History Day this year! A few things to keep in mind as you register for the contest this year:

  1. Registration Deadline is March 13, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. Late registrations be accepted with a $5.00 surcharge until March 16, 2020. No registration entries will be allowed after March 16, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.
  2. You must register before your students can register. 
  3. When registering, please pay close attention while selecting your school in the system as some schools have very similar names. Contact Sherri Singer at  336-506-4396 or sherri.singer@alamancecc.edu, if you can't find your school or homeschool group listed so that it can be added. 
  4. Before students register, please be clear to them if your school will pay their registration fees or if they are responsible for paying them.  Also outline what parts of the registration process they are responsible to do on their own (i.e. mailing in paperwork, uploading projects, etc.) 
  5. Please be aware that the March 13, 2020 registration deadline is also when historical papers should be received by mail.
